After tense contract negotiations, Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni will return for Law & Order: SVU's 11th season. But in a surprise signing, TV vet Christine Lahti (Chicago Hope, Jack and Bobby) will join them, playing the new assistant district attorney.
Lahti will fill the ADA role for only the first four episodes of the season (SVU returns on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9 pm/ET). Then Stephanie March returns to face the bench for another 10 episodes.
The math majors in the house realize that this leaves nine or so episodes unaccounted for, ADA-wise. NBC is mum, but I'm hearing that they're actually looking for a third ADA, who will break the "young and female" mold in more ways than one. We'll keep you posted.
So... are you glad that Benson and Stabler will be back? And what do you think about Christine Lahti as the new ADA?

Contract Hit: Drea de Matteo Joins Desperate Housewives
Sopranos alumna Drea de Matteo is joining Desperate Housewives this season, and she's bringing a small mob of her own with her — in the form of a husband and a son.
De Matteo has been cast in a series regular role, an ABC rep confirms, ostensibly offsetting the loss of Nicollette Sheridan's Edie, who perished toward the end of Season 5. De Matteo's Bronx-bred Wisteria Lane newcomer arrives in town with a husband and 19-year-old son in tow.
Based on the arrival script for de Matteo's character, she's for certain a fish out of water, having traded the noise and grime of New York City for a serene (ha, little does she know) picket-fenced life on Wisteria Lane.
De Matteo's on-screen family has yet to be cast, but it appears that the son will attempt to strike a spark with one of the neighborhood girls. (Perhaps Gaby's freshly introduced bad-girl niece?) The husband, meanwhile, seems likeable enough — if a bit, um, flirty.
De Matteo's casting was first reported by EW.com's Ausiello.
Desperate Housewives ' Season 6 premieres Sept. 24.

Madonna express sad about MJ's passing
"I can't stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless."
Police: "No Red Flag" in Questioning of Jackson's Doctor; Plus: Details on a Second Autopsy
Police have questioned Michael Jackson's personal physician and have found there to be "no red flag" in his account of the events leading to the singer's death, a source told the Los Angeles Times.
The LAPD has stated that Dr. Conrad Murray — a Las Vegas cardiologist who was scheduled to accompany Jackson on his upcoming U.K. tour dates — sat with police for three hours Saturday night. Police have said that he is not suspected of any wrongdoing and is cooperating with their investigation. Murray's attorney, Edward Chernoff, issued at statement after the meeting, saying that his client "is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy."
A second autopsy has been performed at the request of Jackson's family, according to the L.A. Times, which could yield results much sooner than those of the L.A. coroner's office. (On Friday, the coroner deferred assigning an official cause of death until further testing could be completed, which could take four to six weeks.)
While most reports have indicated that Jackson went into cardiac arrest, the Associated Press is quoting a source who says that the cause of death appears to be a heart attack. The two conditions are not mutually exclusive, as a heart attack, the blocking of the arteries leading to the heart, can cause cardiac arrest, the cessation of the heartbeat.

Michael Jackson: What Happened? Mystery Surrounds His Death
Los Angeles police have interviewed the private doctor who was with Michael Jackson when he apparently suffered cardiac arrest — and impounded the doctor's car because it may contain "medications or other evidence," police told us.
The news came as a coroner's investigator announced Friday that the cause of Jackson's death could not be determined without further testing, including toxicology results expected to take four to six weeks. Craig Harvey, chief investigator for the L.A. County Coroner's Office, said there was "no indication of any external trauma or any foul play."
The doctor's car, left at Jackson's home, was impounded because anything inside it "could be helpful to the coroner in determining the cause of death," Los Angeles Police Department officer Karen Rayner said. Detectives planned to talk again with the doctor, who was cooperative and is not under criminal investigation, she said.
"We spoke to the doctor briefly," on Thursday, Rayner said Friday. "We said that we need to conduct further follow-ups with that doctor to get a more in-depth interview and it's not like he's on the lam or we've got an APB out for him. It's just that we had not, as of this morning, had a chance to interview him at length."
The doctor, whose name has not been released, was present with Jackson when emergency workers were called to the singer's home Thursday. Jackson's brother, Jermaine Jackson, said the doctor was the first to try to resuscitate Jackson, followed by paramedics and doctors at the hospital where he was taken.
Jermaine Jackson said cardiac arrest was the likely cause of death, but that it wouldn't be certain until the coroner's examination was complete.
An attorney for Debbie Rowe, the mother of Jackson's children Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11, told People that Rowe is their legal parent and can gain custody of them if she wants. Iris Finsilver said she spoke with Rowe on Thursday but could not say what she would do. "She was inconsolable," Finsilver said.
Jackson manager, Frank DiLeo, told the magazine the children and Jackson's third child, 7-year-old Prince Michael II, have been with Jackson's mother, Katherine, since Jackson died.
Though questions about the death focused immediately on a possible drug overdose, Jackson had battled health problems for years — and even canceled the first in a series of planned comeback concerts because he was feeling ill, according to longtime friend Smokey Robinson.
"I was in London, and the promoter who was promoting those concerts, I was talking with him," Robinson told CNN's Larry King. "And he said, 'Well, we have to cancel the first five concerts because Michael isn't feeling well.' So I said, 'OK, fine, everybody is entitled not to feel well.'"
Michael Jackson, who was scheduled to perform 50 shows at London's O2 arena, rehearsed the night before he died, according to a report citing longtime manager Frank DiLeo. The concerts could have helped Jackson pay off his massive debts and remind fans of the talents that once made him the most beloved entertainer in the world.
Fueling the drug questions was a former attorney of Jackson's who admitted he had no knowledge of the singer's recent life. Brian Oxman, who parted ways with Jackson's legal team while the singer faced child molestation charges, told several media outlets he had warned relatives for years about Jackson's abuse of prescription drugs.
Michael Jackson was repeatedly rushed to the hospital during his 2005 molestation trial, for problems ranging from a bad back to what were described as "viral symptoms." At the time of his November 2003 arrest on child molestation charges, the six-foot singer weighed 120 pounds. By the time he was acquitted, in June 2005, his weight had dropped precipitously.
Jackson never bounced back from the trial. Though prosecutors failed to win their case, they did succeed, intentionally or not, in humiliating the biggest pop star in history. Witnesses testified that he drank wine from soda cans and called it Jesus juice. Prosecutors displayed pornographic magazines seized from his home on an overhead projector, for jurors, his parents, and worldwide media to view.
At one point a prosecutor querying potential jurors asked if any of them could name one of Jackson's songs from the last decade. None could.
Despite the singer's woes, fans were starved for comeback, Robinson noted.
"The proof of him being Michael Jackson, who he will always be, is the fact that he was going to do 50 concerts," said Robinson, Jackson's former Motown Records labelmate. "And the place he was playing is a big arena-type place over in London. OK? Ten minutes or so after the tickets went on sale, they were all sold out."

Army Wives' Star Dishes on Denise's Affair
We're only a few episodes into Season 3 of Army Wives, but the drama is already at an all-time high in the Sherwood family. we caught up with Terry Serpico, who plays the stringent Frank Sherwood, to find out what he thinks drove Denise to have an extramarital tryst, why her best gal pals are giving her the cold shoulder and what's next for the troubled couple.
R: So where do we pick up this week with the Frank-and-Denise saga?
Terry Serpico: This week, Frank is on his way home [from his mission]. He's on his way to deal with his domestic situation under the guise of being reassigned. But the unspoken assignment is to deal with his wife. And in his return, there is the obvious confrontation where he wants to hear from her about the affair. All he knows is she's been terminated from her job and the rest is all rumors.
R: Why do you think Denise, who was once such a doting wife, ended up having an affair?
Serpico: Denise was kind of denied a young adulthood. She married Frank when she was 19 years old; he was her only lover and her life. She got to a point where she realized there was more and she wanted to experience those things she's been denied before. She wanted to sow these wild oats, and it's a little late to be sowing those oats — not late in terms of her age, but late in that she's married.
R: Could Frank have driven her to commit adultery?
Serpico: I have a hard time with that because I see Frank as rigid and difficult, but you have to read between the lines with him. Denise started making changes with her appearance and Frank was somewhat taken aback, but went along with it. She started initiating sex, and while Frank was taken aback, he went along with it. Denise wanted to go back to work, and while he's a very traditional man, he went along with it. If you go back and look, Frank has been remarkably flexible with her for a man supposedly so inflexible. I suppose a case could be made that because Frank is such a black-and-white person, Denise felt somewhat stifled. But I think what's led Denise to have the affair is within Denise.
R: Why would Denise's closest friends give her the cold shoulder at a time she needs them most?
Serpico: I think there's an unspoken code in the military that if your husband is away putting his life on the line for the country, that's just a place you don't go. And I think her friends have turned their back on her simply because they don't know what to say or how to handle the situation. You haven't really seen Denise really coming from a point of remorse. She's looking at it as, "My friends have turned their back on me, and I am such the victim." And the fact of the matter is she dug this hole for herself. If she finds herself adrift, then that's just the consequences for her actions. But over time we can expect these bonds will be rebuilt because we don't have a show without it. [Laughs]
R: Do you think Frank is concerned about the rumors?
Serpico: It is true that if an officer cannot maintain the proper function of his marriage, then it's assumed that he can not maintain the proper function of his battalion. So as the marriage goes, so does the career. What she's done is not only jeopardize the marriage, but his career as well. She's knocked the supports out of the two major tenets of his life. How he's perceived as an officer and soldier in his peer group are very important to him.

Michael Jackson Dies at 50
Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" who rose from poverty to stardom alongside his brothers in The Jackson 5 and solo success to become the most influential entertainer of his era, has died. He was 50.
Jackson suffered cardiac arrest and was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday. One of his brothers, Jermaine, said at a news conference that Jackson's personal doctor as well as paramedics and a team at UCLA Medical Center tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him.

Jermaine Jackson said cardiac arrest was the likely cause of death, but that it wouldn't be certain until an autopsy. Police said the body was with the coroner's office, and that robbery-homicide detectives would investigate, which is customary in high-profile deaths.
For all Jackson's accomplishments in music and humanitarian endeavors, his entire adult life was one attempt after another to recapture a childhood he felt he'd never known. The oddity of his fixation came to a dramatic climax in a criminal trial that led to his acquittal on child molestation charges.
Quincy Jones, producer of Jackson's most successful albums, said he was "absolutely devastated" by the news that Jackson was "taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age."
"To this day, the music we created together on Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad is played in every corner of the world and the reason for that is because he had it all ... talent, grace, professionalism and dedication," said Jones. "He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

Jackson, responsible for 13 No. 1 songs, was preparing for a series of London comeback concerts he hoped would alleviate his massive debts and return him to the glory days of such hits as "Thriller," "Beat It," "Bad," and "Billie Jean." His singing and dancing abilities and iconic look — from his lone silver glove to his multi-zippered jackets — made him one of the most recognizable and celebrated human beings of all time.
Jackson's fame slipped in the 1990s as his chain of hits broke and he reached a legal settlement with the family of a boy who had accused him of molestation. Jackson was acquitted of separate molestation allegations in 2005 after a five-month trial that resulted in a unanimous not-guilty verdict.
He came from the most humble of backgrounds in Gary, Ind. His family's raw talent and the fierce will of his father, Joe Jackson, helped the Jackson Five achieve stunning early fame with Motown Records. Their hits included "ABC" and "I Want You Back." Jackson also yielded such solo hits at the time as "Rockin' Robin."
Jackson would later say that his early success robbed him of his childhood. Michael Jackson said his father would beat him and his brothers for missing steps in their dance routines, and that he never had a chance to live a normal life.

Smallville Casting News: Callum Blue Has Zod Complex
Kneel before Callum Blue. The alum of such shows as Related, The Tudors and Secret Diary of a Call Girl has been tapped to join Smallville in the series regular role of big, bad Zod, says the Hollywood Reporter. He'll first appear in the Season 9 premiere, airing Sept. 25.
A criminal castoff from the planet Krypton, Zod was memorably played on the big screen in Superman II by Terence Stamp (who, like Blue, is British). On Smallville, Stamp has somewhat ironically voiced Clark's biological father, Jor-El.
Zod's Smallville return (he possessed Lex/was played by Michael Rosenbaum in Season 6) was forecast in the CW series' Season 8 finale, when Tess saw the villain rise from a fiery "Z" on the Luthor manse's lawn.
Zod, however, is not the only baddie the Red-Blue Blur will need to face this fall. As exclusively reported by TVGuide.com, Brian Austin Green will bring Metallo to town for the first two episodes of Season 9.

Heroes' Bryan Fuller Leaving for Second Time
Bryan Fuller has left Heroes... again.
Fuller says he's leaving this time to work on other projects because of time constraints — not due to any creative differences with Heroes creator Tim Kring. "Development was really starting to heat up, and it appears like I may be writing multiple pilots for NBC so that wasn't leaving a ton of room for Heroes, unfortunately," Fuller told Ain't It Cool News. "We crafted some really great arcs for the season that I'm excited to see come to fruition. I love that cast dearly and am sad to go, but the plate — she was over-flowing."
A source familiar with the situation said Fuller would work full-time on developing shows for Universal Media Studios, which also makes Heroes.
Fuller, originally a co-executive producer of the show, left after its first season to create Pushing Daisies. He returned as a consulting producer in 2008 after ABC canceled Daisies to oversee Heroes' spring episodes. Fans had hoped he would help return the show to the level of its first season, when he wrote several of the most-loved episodes.
What do you think? Can Heroes go on without Fuller?

Scrubs' Judy Reyes Expecting First Child
Judy Reyes, who plays Carla on Scrubs, is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, filmmaker George Valencia.
Reyes is four months' along, says her rep, and is due in November.
When Scrubs returns in December for a ninth season, Reyes' on-screen husband, Donald Faison, will front the rejiggered show, as Turk takes a teaching job at the med school that will serve as the series' new setting.
Although Reyes was at first not expected to participate in Season 9, sources say she has since reached a tentative agreement to appear in some episodes.

Hot TV: True Blood
How much of a relief was it to know that Lafayette isn't dead in True Blood? Of course, being chained up in a vampire's basement and watching another human get eaten alive isn't much of an alternative, but you can't have everything. And even though he hasn't been to work for a while, Lafayette probably wouldn't recognize Merlotte's if he came back tonight, especially after Maryann works the bar's usual customers into a frenzy that Sam isn't likely to forget.
Scrubs' Next Season Heads for the Classroom
When Scrubs returns for its somewhat unexpected ninth season this fall on ABC, the show will make a move from the halls of Sacred Heart to those of a medical school — with Christopher Turk (played by Donald Faison) and Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley) leading the way.
"It's going to be a different show," creator Bill Lawrence told EW's Ausiello. "It'll still be life-and-death stakes, but if the show is just Scrubs again in the hospital with a different person's voiceover, it would be a disaster, and people would be mad."
While Cox and Turk will now be teaching and the setting will be new, don't mourn the old Scrubs too much. Lawrence promises that now and then, students will visit Sacred Heart — where they might run into such original cast members as Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and Ken Jenkins, who will all return as guests throughout the season.
Yet, at least half the cast on the new Scrubs will be new hires, among which there will likely be a heavyweight actor. "[ABC] is really after us to hire a big name," Lawrence said. "So one of them will be fairly famous."

T.R. Knight Speaks Out: "Leaving Grey's Was Not Easy"
Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and T.R. Knight have confirmed that Knight is leaving the ABC drama.
"Leaving Grey's Anatomy was not an easy decision for me to make," Knight said in a statement on Friday. "I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character [Dr. George O'Malley] and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much. I continue to wish them the very best, and wholeheartedly thank all of the fans who have supported me and the show with such passion and enthusiasm."
Reports had speculated Knight asked out of his contract three years early in the wake of lackluster storylines for George. Rhimes has attributed Knight's lack of storylines to "the ebbs and flows" of working with an ensemble cast.
In her own statement confirming Knight's departure, Rhimes said, "I think I speak for the entire Grey's Anatomy family when I say we wish T.R. Knight the best in his future endeavors. He is an incredibly talented actor and a person whose strength of character is admired by all of us."
In the May season finale, George — while en route to a new career as an Army medic — was hit by a bus and profoundly and critically disfigured in the process. The character's fate likely will be revealed to have died. Rhimes has dismissed any talk of recasting the role with a new actor as "ridiculous."
Katherine Heigl was also suspected to be leaving Grey's, but recent reports indicate the actress will return as Izzie come Season 6.

True Blood: Nelsan Ellis Teases Lafayette's Crazy Season
Sunday's True Blood premiere answered at least one burning question: Is Lafayette alive? Answer: Yes! Nobody is more surprised by this turn of events than Nelsan Ellis, the actor who plays Lafayette.
As a fan of the Sookie Stackhouse novel series, on which Alan Ball based the vampire drama for HBO, Ellis knew that Lafayette, Merlotte's wisecracking cook — and part-time pornographer/drug dealer — is totally dunzo after Book 1. When he arrived on set for the finale episode's table read, he prepared himself for the end. "I thought, this was fun, time to look for the next gig," he says.
But then... what's this? That painted toenail in the car didn't belong to Lafayette after all! "'You know we're not going to kill you, right?'" Ellis remembers Ball telling him. "And I was like, 'Noooo...'" Ball told the actor that he decided to keep Lafayette in the cast after shooting a scene between Ellis and Rutina Wesley, who plays Lafayette's cousin, Tara, in the pilot episode. Ellis and Wesley have combustive chemistry for sure, which Ellis attributes to their long friendship. (They attended Juilliard together in the early '00s.)
So now that Lafayette has been spared, what's next for the flamboyant entrepreneur?
When we last saw him, he was chained up in a dungeon watching a fellow prisoner get disemboweled by a very cranky Eric, his vampire captor. Ellis reveals that, this season, Lafayette's fate will be inextricably tied with that of the vampires, but that their relationship won't always be quite as adversarial. "[Lafayette] stays with the vampires basically throughout the season," he says. "I guess how deep down the rabbit hole he goes with Eric is the biggest teaser I can give."
"Eric makes people beholden to him," says Ellis. "He did it to Sookie, and now he does force Lafayette to work for him to repay him for something he's done for him." Oh jeez, Lafayette isn't going to become a vampire, is he? Not any time soon, says Ellis. "I have a sneaking suspicion that, in the future, the vampires are going to learn to respect him and not mess with him," he says. "He's going to find a way to elevate his position with them. Lafayette is a survivor, so he's not going to stay in this scared state too long." Excellent!

Smallville Casting Exclusive: Brian Austin Green Is Metallo!
It's official — the new season of Smallville can't get here soon enough.
Brian Austin Green has been cast on Smallville as the DC Comics villain Metallo, we has learned exclusively.
That's right — the Terminator alum is now playing a cyborg himself. That is a pretty freakin' super bit of casting, right?
Green will appear as the kryptonite-powered villain (alter ego "Daily Planet" journo John Corben) in at least the first two episodes of Season 9, which takes flight Friday, Sept. 25.
Interestingly, Smallville fans were waiting for news on big, bad Zod, given the events of the Season 8 finale, but that role still has yet to be cast. (I suppose you could say the show "zigged" instead of Zod.)
Green's Smallville gig comes on the heels of the Beverly Hills 90210 alum passing on the role of One Tree Hill sports agent Clayton. (And isn't this role so, so much cooler?!) Prior to that, Green had been attached to the CW pilot Body Politic, but that series didn't get picked up for fall.
This past TV season, Green costarred on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was canceled after two seasons.

NCIS: Los Angeles Gets "Sneak Peek" on USA Network
NBC Universal and CBS, which only recently engaged in a war of words over Medium's merits, apparently have not only buried the hatchet but even struck a cool little deal that involves the new NCIS.
NBCU's USA Network has claimed dibs on the two NCIS episodes that tee up the spin-off premiering this fall, NCIS: Los Angeles. "Legend, Part 1" and "Legend, Part 2" will air back-to-back Friday, June 19, starting at 9 pm/ET.
USA already carries NCIS repeats, but is never allowed a second window nearly this quickly. This particular arrangement was arrived at to help drive interest in the launch of the CBS series as well as afford USA a crack at fresher fare.
In the two-part backdoor pilot, Mark Harmon's Special Agent Gibbs and members of his NCIS team travel to Los Angeles to consult with Special Ops agents "G" Callen (played by Chris O'Donnell) and Sam Hannah (LL Cool J).
Joining O'Donnell and Cool J on the NCIS: LA cast are Peter Cambor, Daniela Ruah and the newly added Adam Jamal Craig (playing a new agent named Dominic Vaile). CSI alum Louise Lombard appeared in the "Legend" episodes as Agent Macy, but has since been dropped from the series.

CW Premiere Plan Features Tree Hill Time Swap, Smallville Delay
The CW is taking page from last year's fall playbook by kicking off early and with the premiere of 90210. The network's rollout plan also features a surprise or two.
Annie, Naomi and the gang's adventures will continue Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 8 pm/ET. Leading out of 90210 will be — déjà vu alert! — the premiere of the new Melrose Place.
Also of note on the CW's schedule is a time-slot swap for its Monday dramas. One Tree Hill will move up one hour to 8 pm (a change that will take effect July 6, with repeats), where it will now set the table for Gossip Girl.
Lastly, not-so-super news for Smallville fans: Season 9 will not arrive until Friday, Sept. 25. Until then, the CW will use the Friday hours to repeat episodes of its new series — Melrose, Vampire Diaries and The Beautiful Life.

Ana Ortiz Talks Baby Names and Ugly Shower
"Naming is hard!" says the about-to-give-birth Ana Ortiz. "We have a short list that keeps fluctuating between five to seven names." we caught up with the Ugly Betty star at a Product-n-Press event she hosted on Tuesday in New York.
Rest assured, the 38-year-old actress isn't going the Hollywood baby name route. "We're not going with any of the Apple or Pineapple names," she says. "I really want a Spanish name, but it has to be a Spanish name Americans can say without destroying it. I really like these old-lady names."
The mom-to-be (literally any day now) has been gearing up for her bundle of joy by readying an eco-friendly nursery and enjoying a baby shower thrown in her honor by her Ugly Betty costars.
"It was incredible. It was family and friends. Vanessa [Williams] organized catering for the event and America [Ferrera] helped organize to get all the stuff together with the Hot Moms Club who put the thing up. It was crazy and so much fun."
Ortiz's other big project this summer: returning to production on Betty. "It's like I'm going to leave the hospital and go right to set!" she says. "I think they'll give the Suarez family some time and a little bit of padding and shoot Mode first since they're very cool about [the pregnancy] and have been so supportive."
But even though Ortiz is jumping right back into work, her little girl will not be far behind. "My mom's going to be on set with me ... [the baby] is going to be a set baby for sure. Are you kidding me? America wouldn't let me on set if I didn't have that baby!"

Rescue Me: Has This Season Saved the Show?
There's something different about Rescue Me this season that we can't quite put a finger on.
Maybe it's the complete creative rejuvenation of the show after a long, 18-month hiatus. Maybe it's the addition of the shockingly grotesque, wheelchair-bound Dwight, played brilliantly against type by guest star Michael J. Fox. Maybe it's that the show returned its focus to 9/11 and its lasting effects on the firefighters. Or maybe it's just because Season 4's look at a sober Tommy Gavin was a bit of a stinker.

Hot TV: True Blood
Just when you thought it was safe to go out at night again, the vampire drama that generated so much fang-fare its first time out is back for a second season of true blood. It's a precise continuation of last year's cliffhanger — picking up with Sookie and Tara mid-scream in Merlotte's parking lot — so we won't have to wait to identify the body in the back of Andy's car. And that's not the only surprise in store, as Jason takes a wrong turn down a righteous path, and Sookie adjusts to Bill's new housemate.
Pushing Daisies
Despite critical acclaim and a devoted following, Pushing Daisies lives up to its name as tonight's series finale represents the final nail in the coffin of cancellation by ABC. But as one might expect, it's going out in style, especially when Vivian and Lily reunite as the synchronized-swimming duo Darling Mermaid Darlings after tragedy strikes a water circus. Nora Dunn and Wendie Malick guest star as the Aquadolls.

You'll Never Guess What Army Wife Pam Tackles Next!
This week on Lifetime's Army Wives (Sunday, 10 pm/ET), Pamela makes her debut as the leader of the new Army Family Team Building support group, a lark by which she'll get some insight into guy pal Roland's increasingly troubled psyche. But what else might the tomboy wife tackle in the weeks to come? Brigid Brannagh gave us a sneak peek.
What is Pamela up to this season, besides heading up the AFTB?
Brigid Brannagh: Well, there's that, and there actually are a few professions for Pam this year, as she searches for herself. She's all over the place, which I think is kind of funny. I mean, she's going to coach football!
How does she fall into that?
Brannagh: Basically, I start helping my son play football, so I spend a lot of time taking him to games. I get along with the coach, and he needs an assistant, and all of the sudden I'm doing the manly thing and taking charge.

Brannagh: Basically, I start helping my son play football, so I spend a lot of time taking him to games. I get along with the coach, and he needs an assistant, and all of the sudden I'm doing the manly thing and taking charge.

16 and Pregnant: MTV Explores the Real Secret Life
From Juno to Secret Life of the American Teenager, recent portrayals of pregnant teens in entertainment have been largely scripted scenarios. Even Bristol Palin, Gov. Sarah Palin's teenage daughter who gave birth in December, was subject to orchestration at media events. But starting Thursday (June 11, 10 pm/ET), MTV's 16 and Pregnant will offer a fresh take on the topic, in a six-part documentary series that reveals what real teens go through when they try to juggle adolescence and adult responsibilities. chatted with Maci, one of the teens featured on the show, about what she hopes other teens will take away from the series, how her pregnancy affected her relationship and how the media should approach stories like Bristol Palin's and those of other teens like her.
My Name Is Earl Is Officially Dead
Twentieth Century Fox, the producers of My Name Is Earl, want to make it clear that the sitcom is officially dead, despite reports of talks with TBS earlier this week.
So they issued the following very specifically worded statement: "Greg Garcia's brilliant My Name is Earl kept America laughing for the past four seasons and certainly deserved to continue for many more. While we had hoped to find a way to produce additional episodes for TBS, in the final analysis we simply could not make the economics work without seriously undermining the artistic integrity of the series. As none of us, Greg included, want the show to go out on anything but a high note, we regret that we must put to rest any speculation that Earl will continue. We are grateful to everyone at TBS for their enthusiasm for the series and wish to offer our heartfelt thanks to the cast and crew of My Name is Earl for their incredible work."

Getting Lost: Is a Full-On Flight 815 Reunion Headed Our Way?
Which former Lost cast member tells us there is a "very large" possibility that he or she will return to the show during its sixth and final season?
And how might that actor's sound bite tie into the big tease tendered by a new ABC promo?
Watch the new entry in our Getting Lost DVD series to see how the latest buzz is adding up to as unlikely a reunion as Paul McCartney and Heather Mills!

Kevin Nealon: Weeds' Carradine Echo Oddly Prophetic
If anyone had planned it, it would have felt too soon.
On Monday's season premiere of Weeds, Doug Wilson (Kevin Nealon) sports noticeable ligature marks around his neck. When Andy (Justin Kirk) asks him what happened, Doug replies with signature nonchalance, "[Masturbated] with a noose," a scene we saw in vivid detail in the Season 4 finale. The premiere aired, of course, just days after reports and speculation that actor David Carradine might have died under similar circumstances. (The death remains under investigation; Carradine's manager has said he suspects "foul play.")
For Nealon, the show's apparent ability to echo current events is nothing new. "You know, it's really interesting how Weeds is prophetic in a way; it's kind of eerie," he says. He points to prescient storylines about the California wildfires and the Mexican drug wars. "We did a story about [the show's fictional suburb] Agrestic burning down, and we shoot in Valencia [Calif.], and then Valencia sort of burnt down shortly thereafter," he says.
Nealon says the latest scene was shot last year. "It was too late to have any second thoughts about it." He says the edgy scene is par for the course on a show like Weeds. "I'm never surprised by what the writers come up with," he says. "You have to be willing to pretty much do anything on that show."
Has he ever refused them? "No, not yet," he says.

CSI: Miami Doctor Is Out... and Hitting the Bar?
Any CSI: Miami fans who never warmed up to The 4400 alumna Megalyn Echikunwoke as a satisfactory replacement for original cast member Khandi Alexander might have cause to feel vindicated.
Echikunwoke this week surfaced on TNT's Raising the Bar, where she has landed a recurring role and is poised for an on-screen romance with J. August Richards' prosecuting attorney.
Echikunwoke will appear in at least three episodes of the legal drama, a TNT rep tells us.
What does this mean for the actress' run as CSI: Miami 's medical examiner?
When last seen in this season's penultimate episode, Echikunwoke's Dr. Tara Price was being hauled off on charges of stealing evidence from deceased victims. (Um, ew.) In the season finale, no mention was made of the character's fate.
A spokesperson for the CBS procedural would not confirm Echikunwoke's exit from the cast, but instead teased, "On CSI: Miami, you never know when someone will return."

Entourage Admits Caan, Fichtner, Letscher
Scott Caan, William Fichtner and Matt Letscher have signed on to guest-star on Entourage 's upcoming sixth season, we has confirmed.
Caan will play Scotty Lavin, a talent manager who becomes E's headache this season. Fichtner (Prison Break) takes on the role of slick TV producer Phil Yagoda, who is trying to remake his hit 1990s teen series for Drama. Letscher, who got some confusing screen time opposite Calista Flockhart on Brothers and Sisters this season, plays Dan Coakley, a TV exec who oversees Drama's TV series.

Katee Sackhoff + 24 = Out-of-This-World Casting
The producers of 24 have given Season 8 a shot of Starbuck, by adding Battlestar Galactica bad-ass Katee Sackhoff to the next cycle's already sharp-looking cast.
Sackhoff will play Dana Walsh, a data analyst at the New York City branch of CTU, EW's Michael Ausiello reports. What's more, her computer wonk will be romantically entangled with Freddie Prinze Jr.'s CTU field ops director.
Dana is also said to have a skeleton in her closet, meaning that her being revealed as a treasonous mole is only paying even money in Las Vegas.
Other previously announced Season 8 castings include Mykelti Williamson (as the NYC CTU's MVP), Jennifer Westfeldt (playing an ambitious journalist), Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire) as a Middle Eastern leader targeted for possible assassination, and Chris Diamantopoulos (as President Taylor's new chief of staff).
In addition to POTUS Cherry Jones, Season 7's returning faces include Annie Wersching as FBI agent Renee Walker , Mary Lynn Rajskub and, yes, Kiefer Sutherland.

Lost's Charlie Appears to Be Alive in New ABC Promo
Charlie Pace is alive and kicking... a foosball around, in a new ABC promo that raises big questions about the Lost character's mortality.
In the latest installment of the network's "ABC House" campaign, Charlie (played by Dominic Monaghan) is teamed with Courteney Cox Arquette's Cougar Town cougar, Jules, in a table soccer match against Grey's Anatomy 's McDreamy and Ed O'Neill's Modern Family patriarch.
Following a dispute over a goal — Jules is accused of "spinning" — Derek warns Charlie, "You are so dead." Charlie then turns to Jules to say, "Actually, I was."
Um, was?
Since tragically yet heroically drowning at the Looking Glass Station in Lost 's Season 3 finale, Charlie has surfaced exactly once. In the Season 4 opener, what one might assume was the late rocker's ghost visited Hurley at the Santa Rosa clinic — despite Charlie repeatedly telling Hurley, "I am here."
Is Charlie indeed alive? Should such a deduction be made from the ABC promo (seen below)?
A spokesperson for Lost declined to comment on the network promo. Sources close to the show, however, tell us that Monaghan's involvement in the commercial does not necessarily mean he is returning to Lost.
Not that another encore is out of the question. As part of Monaghan's May 2007 post-mortem Q&A, Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof teased, "You'll still be feeling Charlie's presence very much, although [he] is dead."
Exec producer Carlson Cuse in turn noted, "If you look at the show, a lot of characters work more when they're dead than they did when they were alive."

Mary-Louise Parker Previews Weeds: Nancy's "Going Down"
Last we saw Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker), she narrowly escaped getting gunned down by Mexican drug kingpin Esteban (aka the mayor of Tijuana, aka her boyfriend) by producing a sonogram that appeared to show that the would-be turncoat was with child! As Season 5 of Weeds premieres (Monday at 10 pm/ET), Nancy's delicate state might have kept her safe in the short run, but not without its own set of complications. Parker tells us what she thinks of Nancy, ponders how far she'll fall this season, and surveys sisterhood with Jennifer Jason Leigh and the relative cleanliness of Alanis Morissette.

Heroes Casts Prisoner as Big Baddie, Finds Claire a New Pal
It's a beast ... and a beauty.
Robert Knepper, who repulsed yet riveted Prison Break fans as the vile Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell, is joining NBC's Heroes as this season's big baddie, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Also, a show rep confirms that Californication's Madeline Zima is coming on board as Claire's new gal pal.
In the Season 4 volume "Redemption," Knepper will play Samuel, the charismatic yet wicked ringmaster of a literal circus. In casting breakdowns leaked last month, the show expressed its want for an Eddie Izzard type to fill the role. Dare I say, they did themselves one better.
Zima, meanwhile, has been cast in the recurring role of Gretchen, an edgy co-ed Claire will cross paths with at college.
Yes, Prison Break fans — Heroes has added a T-Bag and a Gretchen. (It had to be noted.)
Heroes will air an hour earlier this fall — Mondays at 8 pm/ET — and likely run a continuous season à la Lost. NBC has ordered "around 19 episodes" of the sci-fi series, network boss Ben Silverman told us at the May upfronts.
Knepper can next be seen in Prison Break: The Final Break, a made-for-DVD follow-up movie hitting stores July 21.

Forbes Names Angelina Jolie Most Powerful Celeb in the World
Angelina Jolie has dethroned Oprah Winfrey as the most powerful celebrity in the world on Forbes Magazine's annual list.
In the past 12 months, Jolie earned $27 million, with movies including Wanted, Kung Fu Panda and the upcoming thriller Salt. The magazine also considered the media attention she received after giving birth to twins last summer, her philanthropic work and her relationship with Brad Pitt (who ranks No. 9 on the list).
But don't break out the tissues for Winfrey just yet. Earning $275 million annually for the past two years, the mogul is still the top earner, with a TV show, monthly magazine, XM satellite Radio deal and TV network partnership among her professional pursuits.
Joining the leading ladies on Forbes' list are Madonna (No. 3), Beyoncé (No. 4), and Tiger Woods (No. 5). The next tier includes Jennifer Aniston (No. 8), Britney Spears (No. 13) and Tom Cruise (No. 20). Nabbing spots at the tail-end are Mariska Hargitay (No. 98), Jennifer Love Hewitt (No. 99) and Danica Patrick (No. 100).
President Barack Obama was also named (No. 49). He's the first sitting head of state to appear in the rankings.
Do you agree with the magazine's picks? Which celebs would top your list?

Dr. Bailey and Dr. Cooper are teaming up for the Emmys. Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson and The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons will announce the nominations for the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards.
The duo will be joined by Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Chairman-CEO John Shaffner for the 8:30 am/ET reveal on July 16.
Wilson has received three consecutive Emmy nominations for best supporting actress in a drama, while Parsons has never been shortlisted by the Academy. Could this finally be his year?

Will Neil Patrick Put on a Show at the Tonys? Plus Dr. Horrible and Kumar Sequel Scoop
Neil Patrick Harris fans hoping to see their fave be a cut-up as host of Sunday's Tony Awards (airing at 8 pm/ET, on CBS) will probably get some satisfaction. But those wanting to see the How I Met Your Mother star cut a rug or break out into song might come up empty.
"They have an opening planned that is bigger than they have ever had in Tony history. But I don't think I'm going to be involved in it," Harris shared in a press conference call.
Instead, Harris says he will take a cue from Hugh Jackman's first turn as Tonys host, "where he wasn't on a ton and didn't do a lot of performing, but just tried to make the audience feel welcome and keep things running at a smooth clip."
Is NPH rooting for anyone at this year's salute to the stage? Although Billy Elliot is considered the juggernaut to beat, Harris is holding out hope that Next to Normal — which he just saw and says boasts a "small cast and an amazing score" that he can't stop humming — will collect kudos.
"It would be fun if there were a couple less predictable winners," says Harris.
Asked for updates on two possible sequels he could be involved in, Harris told TVGuide.com that while he's "hoping to get naughty" in A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas (now slated for a November 2010 release), circumstances aren't allowing for a trip back to the lab as viral-video villain Dr. Horrible. Yet.
"We're all gung-ho on a future for it, but [Joss Whedon's] Dollhouse just got picked up and Nathan [Fillion]'s Castle got picked up, and I'm still How I Met Your Mothering," says Harris. "But I think that once all of our other dust settles, we have something to fall back on."

Exclusive: Mary-Louise Parker: "I'm Always Naked"
Mary-Louise Parker wants to set the record straight: She loves being naked.
The star of Showtime's Weeds (Season 5 premieres Monday, June 8 at 10 pm/ET) is speaking out in response to a recent interview with More magazine that gave the impression that she regretted doing a nude scene in the Season 4 finale episode. "They made it sound like I was like, 'They made me take my clothes off and chained me to the bathtub,'" Parker says.
In the scene in question, Parker's character, suburban single mom/drug queenpin Nancy Botwin, sits in the tub and reflects on the many obstacles she faces. The long takes do not shy away from Botwin's nakedness — both physical and emotional. The More article, which was excerpted online under the ironic headline of "I Like to Reveal Myself," quotes the actress as saying that she didn't think she needed to be naked, and that she fought with the director about it, which made her bitter.
Not exactly, says Parker. "It made it seem like we were fighting, and nobody's fighting," says Parker, who repeatedly sang the praises of the show's creative team. Instead, she says, she was discussing the difference between editing styles in film versus television. "I was talking about that scene as an example of something I didn't love as much when I saw it because they kept cutting back and I was naked, but they liked the position of it."
But Parker wants to be clear that it wasn't the nudity that bothered her. "I mean, if you know me, it's like, someone sneezes and I take my clothes off," she says. "I'm naked in Esquire in August. I was naked on the set the other day. I'm always naked. I'm naked right now, in fact," she jokes.
We're glad she got that off her chest — so to speak.

90210 Exclusive: Meet Ethan's Replacement
We were all sad to see the charming Dustin Milligan get the heave-ho from 90210 this spring, but fear not! we has learned exclusively that West Bev is getting a new shot of testosterone in the fall, courtesy a new recurring character.
Known as "Teddy" in the character breakdown, the new man in town is a tennis champ who is also the son of a famous movie star. He is described as "returning to West Beverly," which immediately made me think that he was the man behind the wheel of that bumper-stickered Mercedes that witnessed Annie hit... whatever it is that she hit on her season-finale joyride.
Teddy's charm is described as "Clooney-esque," which will surely send all the ladies' hearts a-flutter. That is, until it actually causes the inevitable rift/catfight among Silver, Annie and Naomi, thus teaching our young girls that when looking for a potential suitor, don't let anything get in your way, least of all your best friends. All other women are evil and should be considered competition.
That is all.
Who do you think should be cast as 90210 's "Teddy"?

Is Brian Austin Green Moving to One Tree Hill?
Does Brian Austin Green look like a "Clayton" to you?
Well, maybe they can change the character's name, because the alum of Beverly Hills 90210 and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is in talks to join the CW's One Tree Hill in the series regular role of NBA-bound Nathan's sports agent — who in audition scripts goes by Clayton.
Signing Green would be a significant step toward soothing the sting of the loss of Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, neither of whom will be returning for Season 7.
Clayton, played by BAG or whomever, won't be the only newcomer on Tree Hill this fall. The show is also casting the full-time roles of Haley's older sister, Quinn, and Alexis, a hard-partying model who becomes the face of Brooke's clothing line.

Eminem Meets Bruno's Crotch, Leaves Movie Awards
Never butt into Eminem at an awards show — especially not with your butt.
The rapper, who had an infamous encounter with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog at the 2002 Video Music Awards, was in no mood to get cheeky with Sacha Baron Cohen's flamboyant alter ego, Bruno, at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards. Baron Cohen, wearing angel wings and a scanty thong, descended on wires and staged a crash-landing upside-down onto Eminem.
"Are you serious?" a visibly angry Eminem yelled. "Get the [expletive] off me!"
After bodyguards pulled Baron Cohen from the rapper, Eminem stormed out of the theater.
Now the question is, was he in on it? MTV isn't talking, but we doubt Eminem and his entourage could act that well.
